Aakanksha has a Bachelor of Science in both biological sciences and psychology. She has also obtained a Master of Science in Neuroscience where her research investigated the effects of purinergic compounds on sleep-like brain states under anesthesia using in-vivo electrophysiology. Currently, she is a PhD student in the ALSNIRU lab and her research involves integrating multimodal and multicentre neuroimaging data with clinical data from the CALSNIC dataset using ML approaches. Going forward, she aims to integrate neuroimaging and omics approaches in an effort to subgroup ALS patients and investigate their individualized disease progression. Outside the lab, Aakanksha is a big phytophile and bookworm who also enjoys photography and cooking.
